Capital Gate Tower – United Arab Emirates

The Capital Gate tower in Abu Dhabi is the world's furthest leaning man made tower according to the Guinness Book of World Records. The free form tower is supported on a steel diagrid buttressed with a reinforced concrete core. The facade is a diagonal grid following the structure with each individual triangle a unique size. The insulated glass units are supported on a gasket system supported on unique CNC cut and welded mullions.

Responsibility: Prior to joining The Facade Group, staff for this project led a peer review of the curtain wall. A major problem at the joint between the massive unitized panels was uncovered, and a revised design was worked out with design architect and fabricator.
