Dubai Tower – Doha, Qatar
The sloping roofs and angular glass façades on this 80 story tower feature architectural lighting for nighttime accent. In addition to the tower, the large podium at the base of the building includes large areas of low-slope skylights and cable net lobby facades.
Responsibility: Prior to joining The Facade Group, staff for this project led a peer review of the exterior curtain wall. The consulting parties were advanced into detailing with a variety of problems unresolved. Design of the building maintenance units "BMU" was not adequate to either service the building or conceal the BMU. Alternatives where developed and worked out with the team. Alternate schemes for cladding and accessing the spire were developed. Coordination of the cable net facades and the building structure were addressed.
