Rob Kistler AIA, NCARB

Rob is the Principal of The Facade Group and is responsible for the direction and operations of the firm. He has over 30 years of experience as an architect and consultant with over 15 years as a contractor. Rob’s unique combination of hands-on knowledge and architectural expertise allows him to assist clients in obtaining their design goals while ensuring a functional enclosure. Rob has extensive experience with curtain wall systems. His expertise includes glass, stone and terra-cotta applications. His portfolio is diverse—ranging from commercial towers such as the Washington Mutual Center in Seattle and Plaza 66 in Shanghai to public buildings such as the Mark O. Hatfield U.S. Courthouse and the Seattle Art Museum.

David Altenhofen AIA

David is a Building Enclosure Consultant and Principal of The Facade Group East. He has extensive experience with masonry, windows, glazing, aluminum curtain walls, skylights, metal panel systems, precast concrete, roofing, waterproofing, building science, sustainability and forensics. Project types range from residential to high-tech, with an emphasis on pharmaceutical and applied research facilities. Rounding out his experience, David has been a developer, a licensed general contractor.  David is active in the architectural community at several levels, focusing primarily on reinforcing the architect’s role in building science and tectonic integrated design.

Kenneth Roko AIA

Ken is a Building Enclosure Consultant and Principal with over 18 years of experience. He has a diverse background—encompassing both architecture and structural engineering. His project experience is equally diverse—ranging from commercial towers to residential towers, public buildings to institutional buildings. Ken is The Facade Group’s in-house roofing, waterproofing and air barrier expert and head of the Hygrothermal Analysis team. He is responsible for project coordination, analysis, detailing, production and construction services and existing buildings performance reporting. Ken’s portfolio includes historic preservation projects, exterior restoration, cladding systems, curtain walls, roofing, air barriers, below-grade and horizontal waterproofing systems, and expert witness testimony.

Jasha Kistler

Jasha is a Building Enclosure Consultant and Principal. He has local and international project experience in a variety of building sectors. His technical knowledge of the building enclosure along with his business acumen has made him a valuable member of The Facade Group team. He has consulted on over a hundred commercial projects here in the Northwest, throughout the United States, and internationally. He is an active member of the Portland Building Enclosure Council and ASTM International. Jasha is an active member of the Portland Building Enclosure Council and an annual guest reviewer for University of Oregon Architecture Program.

Jim Dossett

Jim is a Building Enclosure Consultant with 17 years of experience assessing and designing repairs for buildings and monuments, with 5 years of experience as a carpenter. He has expert knowledge of the materials and enclosure systems found in buildings from the 19th through the mid-20th century, as well as familiarity with current construction methods used in their repair and restoration. Jim has done extensive research on transitional building technologies – construction types that rely on past practices while introducing new materials and methods. His work includes diagnosing enclosure failures in recent construction.

Mike Williams

With over 35 years in the construction industry, Mike has spent the past 22 years devoting his career to safely accessing, investigating and maintaining building enclosure systems. His experience ranges from extreme on-site building access and providing onsite fall protection and rescue services, to locating and evaluating water and air infiltration concerns in building enclosures. Because of Mike’s specialized focus, experience, and training in forensic evaluations, he stands out as a top expert in the country. Combining a thorough understanding of building science with an advanced toolbox allows him to technically evaluate any complex building condition.

Jillian Burgess

Jill is a Building Enclosure Consultant with a strong technical background and 15 years of experience. She is a skilled project manager—assisting architects, contractors, developers and other building professionals in all phases of the design process. Jill specializes in Building Performance Modeling. She has extensive experience with schematic massing analysis, detailed facade investigation, solar insolation studies, daylight/glare optimization and CFD modeling. Most of her research focuses on balancing daylight and heat gain for glass facades. Jill’s work spans the globe, having studied shading strategies in multiple building climates. She believes strongly in the impact energy analysis can have in improving building performance.

Michael Falstad

Michael is a registered Architect and LEED accredited Professional with more than 20 years of experience in architecture, design, planning, and preservation. His work focuses on the assessment of building enclosures to identify sources of air and water infiltration and to determine appropriate solutions for repairs. His portfolio includes a diversity of projects varying in size and scope for buildings and sites throughout the greater mid-Atlantic Region. His approach to identifying appropriate solutions encompasses both historically-sympathetic and sustainable design philosophies. Michael has degrees in Architectural History and Architecture. Prior to his education in architecture, Michael worked as a restoration carpenter where he developed skills in detailing and design that provide him with a solid foundation for his current work. While studying for his degree in Architecture, he worked full time for a planning firm specializing in community revitalization which reinforced his interest in maintaining existing buildings and improving their performance. Michael is experienced in all phases of project implementation from conceptual design through construction documents, and construction administration.

Monica Maragos

Monica is a Building Enclosure Consultant with training and experience in the building sector in the US, Sweden and Greece. Her expertise lies in designing energy-efficient and sustainable buildings and identifying solutions for the existing. She is an NFRC Certified Simulator, with experience in energy, hydrothermal (WUFI) and daylight modeling and has utilized simulation tools in a variety of projects. When Monica is not building virtual building models, she is out on site performing condition assessments, observing the construction of new enclosures or reviewing drawings. Having consulted on multiple building projects, Monica has dealt with a variety of building products and materials, including roofing, opaque and glazed wall assemblies and below-grade waterproofing. Initially trained as an Architectural Engineer in Athens, Greece, her passion for technical challenges led her to Lund University in Sweden, where she received her MSc in high-performance buildings. As a Building Enclosure Consultant, she brings a combination of technical skills and a passionate problem-solving attitude to The Facade Group.

John Suter

John is a Building Enclosure Consultant with over 38 years of corporate and institutional architectural practice. His experience includes organizing and directing large teams in the design, documentation, and construction of large or multiple building campuses. For the past 13 years, John was a principal and Director of Quality for Kling and Jacobs with responsibility for company policy on Quality as well as technical review of all Architectural deliverables for multiple offices.

John has extensive experience with masonry, windows, glazing, aluminum curtain walls, skylights, metal panel systems, precast concrete, roofing, waterproofing, and building science. Project types range from residential to high-tech at all scales and complexities.

Shelby is a Building Enclosure Consultant who has been with The Facade Group for 6 years and has experience with many aspects of the building enclosure from below-grade waterproofing to vertical enclosure systems and roofs. Shelby is passionate about building greener, more efficient buildings and is helping to push the industry towards a greener, net-zero future. Shelby has a strong attention to detail which is applied directly to projects and gives clients a sense of security that the building will be air and water tight from below-grade to roof. She holds two degrees and is fluent in Spanish.

Susan Chadwick, PE

Susan has over 15 years of extensive experience in the field of civil engineering, including land development design, environmental remediation, and construction oversight. Her experience includes managing multiple projects concurrently while coordinating with architects, developers, and contractors in all aspects of a project, from design to construction. She brings her technical background and experience as a project manager with her to The Facade Group with a change in focus from land to building. Susan is currently functioning as the Contract Manager for the Philadelphia office, while also assisting the consultant team with project related tasks. She is a versatile team player and is loving the new challenge of applying her engineering knowledge to building science and the industry of enclosure consulting, while also enhancing her structural engineering skills. Her diverse engineering background and natural curiosity bring a unique perspective to The Facade Group team.

Cynthia Leysath

Cynthia is a seasoned administrative assistant with more than 20 years of experience. She joined our Team in July, 2016 as Office Manager, where she ensures that the office runs smoothly. Cynthia is able to tailor her skills to meet the needs to various projects. In addition to overseeing all of the clerical functions in the Philadelphia office, she maintains accounts payable, accounts receivables and shares the monthly billing responsibilities with our Portland office. Cynthia is always willing and able to assist a client who requires immediate assistance or providing a helping hand to our Team. In her spare time, Cynthia enjoys hanging out with her daughter, crocheting and showing her cats love!
